Beechey, James & Chris Stephens (eds.)
Picasso and Modern British Art.
London : Tate, 2012. Paperback. 240 pp. English text. Condition : as new. Mailorder only - Alleen verzending mogelijk. Book condition : as new. - Picasso and Modern British Art is the first book to explore an overlooked yet important aspect of Pablo Picasso's life and work: his lifelong connection with the United Kingdom. Tracing his rise in Britain, the ways in which his work was exhibited and collected there during his lifetime, and the evolution of his critical reception, this book demonstrates that the British engagement with Picasso and his art has been much deeper and more varied than was previously understood. Picasso's enormous impact on British modernism is examined through seven artists for whom he proved a particularly important stimulus: Duncan Grant, Wyndham Lewis, Ben Nicholson, Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, Graham Sutherland, and David Hockney. With more than 150 illustrations and essays by leading experts in the field, this book will appeal to anyone interested in Picasso's long career or the development of modernism in Britain. ISBN 9781854378903.

EDDISON, E. R. (ERIC RüCKER EDDISON) (INTRODUCTION BY JAMES STEPHENS)
A Fish Dinner in Memison (the Zimiamvian Trilogy)
New York: Ballantine Books, 1970. 2nd Printing. Paperback. ISBN: 345020324125. Mass Market PB. 2nd printing thus. (priced at 1.25) This is a mass market paperback book. The book is in Very Good+ condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The book covers are clean and bright. The text pages are mostly clean and bright, but have some light, generalized toning. "Eddison's books are written in a meticulously recreated Jacobean prose style, seeded throughout with fragments, often acknowledged but often directly copied from his favorite authors and genres: Homer and Sappho, Shakespeare and Webster, Norse sagas and French medieval lyric poems. Critic Andy Sawyer has noted that such fragments seem to arise naturally from the "barbarically sophisticated" worlds Eddison has created. [11] The books exhibit a thoroughly aristocratic sensibility; heroes and villains alike maintain an Olympian indifference to convention. Fellow fantasy author Michael Moorcock wrote that Eddison's characters, particularly his villains, are more vivid than Tolkien's." (from Wikipedia). Very Good+ .
